Ryansdad at this juncture is a concept looking for a band.  I started playing acoustic guitar at the age of fourteen having been shown a few chords by my older brothers.  Initially I tried playing songs by Bob Dylan, Neil Young & John Martyn as that is what my brothers were playing.  Out of frustration at not being able to play that material very well I decided to start writing my own songs as that way I thought, I cannot be playing my own compositions poorly!  Over the years I wrote a lot of songs, many of which I have since forgotten.  I was never going to play them in public, it was simply a hobby.  Then I started playing the songs with my best friend in his parent's garage and in our respective rented accommodation over the years.  In time, we both had to grow up, find careers, get married, start families.  I stopped writing songs.  About five years ago I found myself in a position whereby I had far more time on my hands and wrote a song for the first time in over two decades.  I was also getting older and managed to lose the embarrassment gene along the way so I decided I was going to record some of the old songs I had penned.  I started out by doing home recordings on some kit I bought but it always sounded like a "home recording".  Then by sheer coincidence I met Jim Mason through a cousin of mine.  Jim is a professional musician, plays in bands and is now producing material in his own recording studio.  Jim is a bit of a genius and exactly what I was looking for to turn my raw efforts into more polished recordings.  

"Light up my life" is our second collaboration.  I do hope to record many more with Jim.
